My Studio Lighting Setup

My Studio Lighting Setup

July 7, 2022 0 By Nicki Sun

For the handful of you who’ve asked me what my lighting setup is, I discussed some of my favorite products from Aputure and Amaran in my latest livestream on Amazon.

P.S. If you didn’t know, I go LIVE every Tuesday at 7pm PST directly on Amazon. So come on by and join us in the chat if you have any questions!

For a list of my filmmaking gear, click here.

Okay for the details:

On my right side, I have the Amaran 100d paired with the Aputure Light Dome Mini II. On my left side, I have the Aputure 120d II paired with the Aputure Lantern. Both are on generic light stands I found on Amazon.

My favorite pocket light that can also be sync’d alongside the Amaran 100d with the Sidus app? The Aputure Amaran MC Light! Get one, or a few to sync throughout your scene in unison!

What I didn’t mention in the video:

For the blue lighting in the background, I actually have a light panel that was given to me by a friend and I had went to Expendables Recycler in Van Nuys, CA for some really low-cost gel sheets. Great way to save the environment while also picking up some sizable gels for less than $5!

Now this is not the same exact light panel I received, but this one is pretty close to the one I have.

And then attached to the backside of my bookshelf, I have installed this smart multicolor light strip that is also voice activated with my Alexa and has 14 built-in colors. I definitely recommend getting the 4th Gen of the Echo Dot because doubling up as a clock display makes a world of difference!

Happy Studio Building! Tag me in your lighting setups — I’d love to see them!
